Our Commitment

peptides.fyi is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of this website and hold ourselves to the standards and guidelines listed below.

Conformance Status

This website strives to conform to the following accessibility standards and regulations:

• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA -- published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)
• Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) -- Title III, as applied to websites and digital services
• Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act -- applicable to information and communication technology
• European Accessibility Act (EAA) -- Directive (EU) 2019/882, effective June 28, 2025
• Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) -- Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation
• EN 301 549 -- the European standard for digital accessibility, harmonized with WCAG 2.1

We aim for full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where partial conformance exists, we have documented it under Known Limitations below.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following measures to ensure accessibility across the site:

Structure and Navigation

• Semantic HTML5 markup with proper heading hierarchy across all page templates
• ARIA landmarks and roles for screen reader navigation (banner, navigation, main, complementary, contentinfo)
• Skip-to-content link for keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation
• Category navigation built with a nav element and a descriptive aria-label
• aria-current="page" on active navigation links

Visual Design

• Color contrast ratios meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
• Content is not conveyed through color alone
• Responsive layout that functions at zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
• No content that flashes more than three times per second
• Support for prefers-reduced-motion to disable animations for users who request it

Keyboard and Focus

• All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible, including the peptide research quiz, dropdown menus, and form controls
• Visible focus indicators (3px solid outline with offset) on all interactive elements
• Logical tab order following the visual reading sequence
• Keyboard-navigable dropdown menus with Escape, ArrowDown, and ArrowUp key support
• Focus trapping in the cookie consent dialog to prevent keyboard users from tabbing behind it

Forms and Interactive Elements

• Form inputs have an associated <label> element or an explicit accessible name
• Required fields are marked with both the required attribute and visible indicators
• Invalid or missing entries are reported through the browser's built-in form validation, which ties each message to its field
• Interactive quiz elements use appropriate ARIA roles (role="radio", aria-checked) and are keyboard-operable

Images and Media

• Descriptive alt text on all informational images
• Decorative images use empty alt="" or aria-hidden="true"
• SVG icons include aria-hidden="true" when purely decorative, or descriptive labels when functional

Technologies Used

• JavaScript (vanilla, no framework dependencies)

Accessibility features function in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (current and one prior major version).

peptides.fyi assesses the accessibility of this website through the following methods:

• Automated testing with accessibility auditing tools (axe, Lighthouse, WAVE)
• Manual testing with keyboard-only navigation
• Manual testing of heading hierarchy and ARIA landmark structure
• Color contrast ratio verification against WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds
• Third-party accessibility evaluation via SiteChecker Accessibility Checker

Known Limitations

While we strive for full conformance, the following limitations are known:

• Third-party advertisements: Ad content served through Google AdSense is outside our direct control. Google states its ad products comply with WCAG 2.0, but individual ad creatives from third-party advertisers may not meet all accessibility standards.
• Molecular structure images: Chemical structure diagrams include descriptive alt text identifying the compound, but the visual complexity of molecular structures cannot be fully conveyed through text alternatives alone.
• Third-party embeds: Content embedded from external platforms (such as social media widgets or video players) may not meet our accessibility standards.
